PTA Meeting

There will be a General PTA meeting this Thursday, November 10th at 6:30 pm in portable B-28.  We will have a treasurer's report on the money that has been eaned and spent this semester.  We will also discuss the activities planned for next semester.

Jog-a-thon a success!

The jog-a-thon was a fun event.  Thanks to all of you who were able to make it and help mark the childrens' laps and cheer them on.  We would like to thank Ms. Boltman who ran 60 laps!  She ran all day with every class. 

We hope your children are proud of themselves for the amount of laps they were able to accomplish.  The measurement of the track came out to 6 1/2 laps equalling 1 mile.  So, let your kids know about what distance they ran.  They should have come home with the amount of laps they ran recorded in their agenda. They also should have come home with a certificate and coupon from Hinkle Family Fun Center.

Please turn in all donations by Friday the 21st, or sooner if possible.  Once all the money is counted we can determine which classes in each grade will host the Jog-a-thon trophy, and the class that earned a pizza party for the most donations overall.

Our 2nd anual Jog-a-thon is coming up on October 14th.  Look for flyers in backpacks on Thursday. 

Bounce Back update

We just wanted to let you know that our Bounce Back event was a big success (we hope you thought so too.)  The total amount fundraised was $5616!  That money has been divided up amongst the teachers based on the amount of tickets they brought in that night, the administration receives the money from selling the wristbands. The PTA made money from the sale of hot dogs, drinks and cookies.  Each group will determine how to spend their money, but it will all be to benefit your children!

VRES Hoodies and T-shirts

VRES Hoodies and T-shirts are continually available.  Hoodies are $20 and come in Black or Purple.  T-shirts are $10 and come in the same colors.  We have Youth sizes M, L, and XL.  (Mediums will fit kindergarteners.)  Order forms are in the front office.

So much to say

The beginning of the year is so crazy, and there is so much to cover.
Bounce Back to School will be held September 16th from 5:30to 8:00 p.m.
If you filled out a PTA membership form and marked that you are willing to help out, you may be getting an email or phone call soon from Shay T. to help at the event or before and after school selling tickets.
PTA General Meeting  will be held September 6th at 2:15 p.m. so we can include the staff.  Next months will be an evening meeting TBD.
Box Tops Coach Moskola does a Box Top Drive every year.  Please start collecting them now.  He usually collects them in January.
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) VRES is instituting a new program this year.  Ms. Dooley would love to have help with traffic control during the drop-off pick-up times before and after school.  We are looking for adult men who are willing to help.  The Watch D.O.G.S. program also encourages parent involvement in the classroom and around the school to increase safety and positive male role models for students.  Men will need to be fingerprinted through APS which costs $18.  Ms. Garcia, the Vice Principal, has the forms that are needed in the main office.  There will be a launch event soon, so keep a look out for announcements of a date and time.
Entertainment Books The school will be delivering Entertainment Books soon for students to sell.  Please know that not all fundraisers are initiated by the PTA.

Open House

Hopefully everyone received a call or an e-mail about Open House tonight.  PTA will be there to explain our organization, signing up members, and selling T-shirts.

Back to School

Hello Everyone, and welcome to the VRES PTA blog.  We hope everyone has had a smooth transition into the new school year.  Hopefully many of you have received a pamphlet about what PTA does.  If not please contact us at VRE_PTA_membership@q.com and we will be happy to send you an attachement of one.  We have had a number of people join already.  We hope to have many more.  We are offering coupons to offset the $7.00 cost of Membership.

Jason's Deli has given us coupons for a free kid's meal.  We also have coupons for the new cupcake shop on Golf Course in front of Peter Piper Pizza named Caked.

Membership forms should have been in your packets that were handed out at Meet the Teacher.  You can fill them out and turn them in with dues to your teacher or the front office.
